Artificial Insemination (A.I.) gives me as a small breeder the opportunity to breed to superior bulls without the financial commitment of owning a champion bull. For me it is all about predictability, I know by breeding a quality cow to a proven sire the odds are good I'm going to produce a quality animal. A.I. also allows me the ability to change bulls if offspring of a particular mating is not desirable.

Later this year, I will begin to further enhance my breeding program by using embryo transfer. This will give me the opportunity to maximize production on my premier mature cows. Initially, I plan to begin this program using seven Longhorn females as recipient cows. This program will also give me access to bulls that I might not otherwise have access too.

I've been using the A.I. services of Butch and Kelly Geurin at Mountain Creek Longhorns for several years. They have done a fantastic job for my program and have taken the time to educate me on the breed.
